If the latest cold snap has left you dreaming of sun, sea and cocktails, the new collection by Kate Fearnley might be just the thing to pack for your getaway

DESIGNER Kate Fearnley’s spring/summer collection, Riviera Cocktail, is now available in Middesbrough destination store Psyche.

Inspired by retro vacations, and focusing heavily on the styles and shapes of the Hollywood icons of the Fifties, the collection brings to mind the post-war French Riviera – sun, drinks parties at the yacht club, promenading on the Mediterranean sea fronts.

It features Kate’s trademark bold use of colour: shades of red, aqua, strawberry, pink and purple are interspersed with black and white and vibrant splashes of yellow. The collection also includes cherry printed stretch cottons, florals, spots and paintsplash prints.

Soft matt satins, heavy crochet laces, soft vintage laces and jersey give the Fearnley feel, with the focus on contrasting colours, textures and embellishments, whilst the silhouettes of the collection feature new longer length fitted pencil dresses, classic 1950s swing dresses, sharp shoulder detail, peplums and petal trim detailing.

The shoes that are pictured in Kate’s French Riviera collection imagery are by Parmar Shoes (parmarshoes.co.uk).

Kate, 36, opened her flagship boutique in Middlesbrough, in 2005, and her first concession at Psyche, in Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough, last year.

Her styles have been seen on celebrities, including: Alexandra Burke, Diana Vickers, The Saturdays, Zoe Salmon, Amelia Lily, Katie Price, Amy Childs and Billie Faiers
