THIS first book in a new fantasy series for young people called Iron Fey is very promising.
Misfit teenager Meghan Chase believes her life is boring, living as she does on a pig farm with her mother, stepfather and half-brother. Then one day Meghan discovers her half-brother Ethan has been kidnapped and she and best friend Robbie, forced to reveal that he is a faery, embark on a rescue mission to the faeryland of Nevernever.
Kentucky-based writer Julie Kagawa manages to find an original voice in the overcrowded teen market as she begins this new saga. The writing style is vivid and should have young readers yearning for the next instalment, as Meghan’s adventure towards finding her true identity begins.
