LONG-HAIRED, bearded and waistcoated, Band Of Horses personify the US country dream.
Recently-released third album, Infinite Arms, has been their most successful, having been Grammy-nominated for best alternative album in 2010.
Band Of Horses cater more for the soul, their moving country rock enveloped the Newcastle crowd as they opened with new track Bats.
There was as much positive reception for first album favorites as there was from Infinite Arms. Tracks, Factory, No One’s Gunna Love You and The Great Salt Lake reach for the sky, yet speak to you personally.
Lead vocalist Ben Bridwell’s vocals find new peaks of plaintive yearning; the hooks virtually tumbling over each other to capture perfect pop.
The Funeral is executed with the bombast and surging power it deserves.
The General Specific was the climax. With soaring organs, guitars and Bridwell’s vocals, it was the perfect end to an outstanding set.
