NASHVILLE country music giant Marty Stuart and his aptly-named band The Fabulous Superlatives pressed all the right buttons to make their North-East debut one to remember.
Bookended by a striking version of Stop The World And Let Me Off and Stuart’s own Little Heartbreaker, the action was non-stop.
He was aided by the amazing electric lead guitar of Kenny Vaughan, with Paul Martin (electric bass, vocals) and legendary Harry Stinson (drums, vocals). The audience felt like they had joined a couple of Marty’s heroes, Johnny Cash and Lester Flatt, and gone to heaven.
The entertainment was flawless – whether Stuart was cranking it up on the twangy Branded, Whiskey Ain’t Working No More and Hillbilly Rock, or paying tribute to Cash and other country greats.
A mention should be made of support act Sarah Petit who brought a tasty helping of traditional-based country music to the table.
