TWENTY people are down to audition with more applying each day for the X-Factor-style chance to perform Teesside fire fighter and musician Ed Parrish’s charity single.

Six entrants from Sunday’s audition at Liberty’s in Middlesbrough will go forward to a final on March 26 at The Arc, Stockton, hosted by Pam Royle.

BBC Tees presenter Lisa McCormick will be on the judging panel alongside Stuart Stenhouse from Emu Music.

Anyone still keen to enter can register by emailing, prior to Sunday, to info@manillpr.com. The event is a major fundraising event for Zoe’s Place in Middlesbrough. More information is available at zoesjourney.co.uk Over the past couple of months Ed Parrish has been recording a single, called The Journey, with influential London-based producer Steve Honest. The result is a radio friendly Keane-esque single.

The overall winner will receive a two single recording deal plus PR with all proceeds going to Zoe’s Place.

■ Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice was founded by chairman of trustees, Prof JJ Scarisbrick. He identified that a large number of families, with children suffering from life limiting or life threatening conditions, were in desperate need of specialist facilities including respite, palliative or terminal care.

Even more important it was recognised that families most needed this facility during the early years of their child’s life.
