A TONGUE-in-cheek take on the famous Christmas carol, John Julius Norwich’s collection of thank you letters is playfully accompanied by Blake’s celebrated illustrations.
At first “enchanted” by the romantic gesture of being sent a partridge in a pear tree, the protagonist, Emily, rapidly loses patience with her lover as her presents become more and more far-fetched.
The final straw comes in the form of something which threatens to terrorise the calm of the English countryside.
A must-have stocking filler.
