AT the beginning of the Eighties I was introduced to the music of Moe Bandy an ex rodeo clown who through his down home traditional sounds was gaining great chart success both with single and album releases.

One of his singing buddies was Joe Stampley and together they recorded a couple of “good ole boys” duet albums.

He also had female partners for duets such as Judy Bailey, Janie Fricke and Becky Hobbs. It was through the song that they charted together, Let’s Get Over Them Together, that I was introduced to Hobbs

She is a great solo artist in her own right having written for other artists like George Jones, Helen Reddy, Loretta Lynn, Shelly West and in 1984 penned Angels Among Us for Alabama.

Her last two albums, Songs From The Road of Life and Best of Beckaroo are now available on her own record label.

Although she has made appearances in Britain, her music is not as widely acknowledged or appreciated as much as it should be.

Hobbs is a great entertainer and perhaps these releases will bring greater awareness to her credibility.
