BRIDGET is hungry so she steals a biscuit from the child minder’s shed... but it’s a dog biscuit.

When Mrs Blair tells her: “Oh my, you’ll go bow-wow and turn into a dog”, of course, she’s only teasing – but Bridget believes her. At first it’s fun imagining her tail and ears growing and behaving in a distinctly doggish way.

But when Mum and Dad fail to notice, Bridget begins to get upset and that night a joyous doggy dream turns into a nightmare. At last she gets the chance to tell Mum and be reassured that it’s all a fantasy. A brilliant picture tale which adults should read too, as a reminder not to frighten small children with thoughtless jokes.
