REGINALD Hill, again, this time in short-story mode and featuring some of his best characters, including private eye Joe Sixsmith and Dalziel and Pascoe, in intriguing and tantalising circumstances.
I particularly enjoyed Inspector Chislenko in Stalinist Russian, who must find out why three people have just witnessed a 50-year old murder. Oh so baffling, but oh so enticing.
