THIS powerful and shocking novel explores the logical conclusion to the current obsession with cosmetic surgery.
Sara has always been different and difficult, with a tendency to selfharm and a longing for celebrity.
When she's in hospital being treated for supposedly "accidental" burns to her face, she is visited by ageing rock star Jonathon Heat, a Michael Jacksontype figure who has had so many operations on his face that it has literally disintegrated, forcing him always to wear a mask. Heat takes Sara under his wing and whisks her away to his country mansion, where he promises to groom her for stardom and give her the cosmetic surgery she has always longed for. But to Sara the mansion is horrifically haunted, and despite her new luxurious life-style, as the day of her operation draws nearer, she is forced to confront a grotesque possibility: that her famous benefactor is actually trying to steal her face to repair his own.
A tense, emotionally charged and challenging thriller. (Age 11+)
