JASON COOK’S Comedy Club is marking a special milestone at The Customs House in South Shields.

More than 10,000 tickets have been sold for the shows, organised by Hebburn-born comedian and writer Jason Cook, since they began in October 2015.

To celebrate, there will be two shows in February, giving people a double dose of great comedians for just over a tenner.

Jason said: “We’re taking over The Customs House on Friday, February 1, and Saturday, February 2, with the same comics each night and twice the chance to visit the comedy club that has sold over 10,000 tickets since it started. Join us and find out why!”

The line-up includes Canadian comedian Phil Nicol, BBC New Comedy Award-winning comedian Angela Barnes and swing singer Glen Roughead, whose on-stage partnership with Cook will be familiar to those who have attended previous comedy clubs.

Jason Cook’s Comedy Club enters its fourth year at The Customs House as the charity celebrates its 25th year as an arts venue.

It has attracted the likes of this year’s Britain’s Got Talent winner, Lost Voice Guy Lee Ridley, Joke of the Fringe 2018 winner Adam Rowe and Double Sony Award winner and Mock The Week regular Gary Delaney.

Programming and marketing manager, Leah Strug, said: “Jason has been a huge supporter of The Customs House and we’re delighted he hosts his hilarious comedy club at our venue every month.

“Over the years he has brought huge stars to our stage and his club has grown from strength to strength. It began as a club every other month and grew so popular we expanded it, scheduling it on the first Saturday of every month – and it continues to sell out!

“What better way to celebrate 10,000 tickets than with a double show. It would make a great Christmas present for anyone who loves a laugh, but be quick, almost half the tickets have already been snapped up.”
