COUNTY Durham audiences can experience the best of British theatre when a new production of iconic musical Funny Girl is screened at Durham’s Gala Theatre this October.

Following a celebrated run in the West End, Michael Myer’s adaptation of the classic comedy will be on screen at the Durham County Council venue on Wednesday, October 24, at 8pm. and Tuesday, October 30, at 2.30pm.

The original stage and film productions brought fame and fortune for Barbra Streisand 50 years ago but double Olivier Award-winner Sheridan Smith makes the role of Fanny Brice her own in this show which is packed with beautiful costumes and moving performances.

The show tells the story of Fanny Brice, whose vocal talents and comedic ability see her rise from Brooklyn music hall singer to Broadway star. It features one of the most recognisable Broadway scores of all time, boasting favourites such as People and Don’t Rain On My Parade.

Tickets for Funny Girl are priced at £15, £13 for concessions and £10 for Gala Members. To book, or for more information, visit www.galadurham.co.uk call 03000 266 600 or visit the box office.
