The recordings take the listener on a tour through Haydn's experimental and popularist styles, and includes two of his most recognised sonatas, 50 and 52. At two discs for the price of one, this a real bargain.

Brahms' most important contribution to the viola repertoire were originally conceived for the clarinet. The viola's distinctive timbre conveys the sense of intimacy of these beautiful chamber works with telling effect.
