JACKSON Browne is one of those performers who I knew existed, but had actually never heard perform.

It’s taken fully 14 albums for me to get around to it, but it has been worth the wait.

While Browne was actually born in Germany, he moved to the US at the age of three and so his Americana roots are pure.

Now 65, his songs are meaningful and beautifully constructed, both political and romantic.

While Standing In The Breach was an introduction to the man for me, if his back catalogue is anywhere near as enjoyable as his latest offering then I shall look forward to becoming better acquainted.

Jackson Browne plays the Sage, Gateshead on November 20.
