THE annual release of recordings from Martha Argerich and friends, performing live at the Lugano Festival, have been eagerlyawaited since the series began. The festival gives young performers the opportunity to play with experienced musicians.
This 3CD set includes familiar names from the 11 previous events, while among those appearing for the first time are violinist and Queen Elizabeth Competition winner Audrey Baranov and pianists Thomas Alegre, Allesandro Mazzamuto and Maria Meerovitch. Nine works in the compilation include works by Beethoven, Ravel, Debussy, Shostakovich, Liszt, Offenbach, Camille Saint-Saens, and Ottorino Respighi.
