AN easy-to-read account of the origins of Al-Qaeda and its decline after 9/11, but one which I believe has major flaw. Granted that Bin Laden has been killed and that the attacks of September 11, 2001, did not provoke the expected flood of terrorist recruits, it does not follow that the organisation is dead and buried. Far more likely, that it is operating through affiliates as in Syria, the Central African Republic and East Africa.
