IF this is what happens when this band improvises, just think what they could produce if they really sat down and thought about it.
A combination of jazz, funk and rock, Lope and Antilope was recorded in a matter of days. This is in no way reflected by the end product which is classy, inventive and worth listening to. Perhaps when you consider that Get The Blessing feature Portishead members Jim Barr, bass, and Clive Deamer, drums, then this is maybe no big surprise, but what, in the wrong hands, could so easily have resulted in a chaotic mulch of barely distinguishable sound is in fact an album to behold.
