ONE of the UK's most anticipated Texel sheep dispersal sales goes ahead tomorrow.
The long-awaited dispersal sale of Richard Oates's Lumbylaw adult Texel breeding flock is at Carlisle Auction Mart.
Originally scheduled for last September, the sale had to be cancelled because of the foot-andmouth outbreak and movement restrictions.
The sale of 150 ewes - now in lamb - and 90 gimmers has attracted huge interest from England, Scotland and Ireland.
Tom Oates, partner and resident auctioneer for George F White, who is handling the sale with Harrison & Hetherington, said: "Pedigree dispersal sales are always extremely well attended, but the Lumbylaw name, synonymous as it is with quality throughout the sheep farming industry, is sure to be a real crowd puller."
The Lumbylaw flock has been bred since 1976 and data recorded since 1980. The sheep are among the best Texels in the country and were the top performance flock in the UK in 2006.
