ESTATE agent Charltons has appointed a graduate surveyor to its team.

Emma Yarrow has joined the company's Darlington office having graduated with an honours degree in building surveying from Northumbria University.

She is working towards her Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors' Assessment of Professional Competence qualification, while also learning on the job in her role at Charlton's.

■ THE University of Teesside has named Alastair Thomson as dean of its business school.

His career includes working as the divisional managing director of a FTSE 100 business, and setting up his own company, Mint Services. The post is his first in higher education.

Mr Thomson is also Tees Valley branch chairman of the Institute of Directors.

He said: "My experience has given me the perspective of someone who has worked at managing director level, of both large and smaller UK businesses.

■ THE Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has strengthened its international banking operations with the appointment of Adrian Cudby as director to work in the Yorkshire and North-East region.

Mr Cudby will lead a recently-established team of 14 international relationship managers across the region to support customers and their business needs.

He has worked for The Royal Bank of Scotland Group for 27 years, mainly in the Yorkshire region.

■ ANNE HAGGAS has been appointed head of new homes sales for property consultancy Knight Frank's Northern region.

Ms Haggas, who became a partner with Knight Frank in 2005, will oversee the five new homes sales offices that make up Knight Frank's Northern region - Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield and Newcastle.

She will help with investment deals, implement changes to ensure the smooth running of the business and deliver continuous improvement.

During her career, with Knight Frank, Ms Haggas has been responsible for achieving investment sales of more than £150m.

■ SOFTWARE company Datawright has appointed Ian Farrar as business development manager.

He will play a key role in expanding the Washington, Wearside-based company's client base in the UAE and the Middle East, in addition to developing its market share of the North-East oil and gas sector.

■ PROPERTY consultant Carter Jonas has made two appointments at its Harrogate office.

Michael Barry and Kim Stothard have joined the planning department as assistant planner and graduate planner respectively.
