A HOUSING provider is using the skills of experienced staff to train its next generation of workers.
Coast and Country Housing, based near Redcar, is harnessing the knowledge of senior workers, who are retired or close to ending their careers, to deliver training to youngsters.
Brian Hughes, a bricklayer nearing retirement, will deliver the first batch of training.
Steve Healey, Coast and Country's head of maintenance operations, said: “This important scheme will make the team more efficient at delivering a first time fix on day-to-day repairs and maintenance jobs, enhancing our service to tenants.
“Workers will possess all the skills necessary to complete a job from start to finish.
“Older and retired people often have a great deal of valuable experience to impart, and it's important we utilise this resource to support our future workforce.”
