AN offshore engineering company will hold a recruitment drive at a Teesside college.

Wood Group PSN, which offers engineering services to the gas and oil industry, is holding an event at Middlesbrough College.

The company employs about 29,000 people in 35 countries and has vacancies in construction supervision, pipe-fitting, welding and production operations.

Middlesbrough MP Andy McDonald, a governor at Middlesbrough College, welcomed the company's desire to find workers from the North-East.

He said: “This area is renowned for its industrial heritage and the skills of its workforce and we are confident the team at Wood Group PSN will be more than impressed with the calibre of candidates they find here.

Peter Wilson, the college's managing director for industry and community partnerships, said the move was a big boost for jobs on Teesside.

He said: “While this industry is clearly important to this area, this event also shows just how important the people of Teesside are to this industry.

“Our work with Wood Group PSN illustrates just how determined the college is to identify and secure opportunities for the people of Teesside.”

The events takes place in Middlesbrough College on Wednesday, February 6, from 10am until 8pm.
