A FAST-GROWING North Yorkshire tea brand will be displaying its wares at the UK’s largest food and drink trade show.
The Mad Hatter Tea Company will be exhibiting at the IFE food and drink trade show at the ExCeL, in London, next month.
The bi-annual event showcases thousands of new products from more than 1100 exhibitors.
The company’s promotion will feature key characters from Alice in Wonderland serving tea and designer cakes. The brand was launched in 2009 by Michael Harrison as a sister company to his award-winning food wholesale firm, Northern Select Foods.
It has since won a contract to supply Grand Central Railway and is on sale in selected tea shops, restaurants and stores in North Yorkshire and County Durham.
The company name came about because it is based in Richmond, the North Yorkshire town where Alice in Wonderland author Lewis Carroll went to school.
In the novel, The Mad Hatter was initially encountered at a tea party.
Mr Harrison has the copyright on using the name for tea in the UK and the US.
