THREE North Yorkshire care homes with more than 200 beds are among a group taken over by a national firm.

Care home operator Avery Healthcare was yesterday appointed to run four homes in Yorkshire, previously operated by Leeds-based Orchard Care Homes, by landlord ING Properties.

The homes are the 60-bed Leeming Bar Grange, Boroughbridge Manor and Lodge with 76 beds, and Scarborough Hall and Lodge, with 85 beds, as well as Cookridge Court and Grange, Leeds, with 96 beds.

Northampton-based Avery had been in talks with ING on taking over the operation of the homes for several months and they will all be refurbished by next summer.

Avery boss John Strowbridge said: “We are very pleased to have been appointed by ING properties.

“I would like to give this assurance to residents and their families that although we will be closing down parts of each facility for a period as the refurbishments take place they need have no worries at all.”

Avery operates 17 homes in England.
