A NORTH-EAST software company has secured funding to help revolutionise the way dyslexic and visuallyimpaired users access the internet.
Recite Me Ltd’s software offers internet users with reading difficulties a range of features including the ability to view websites in more legible fonts or text-to-speech conversion.
The Gateshead software company has already attracted the attention of major search engine providers, such as Google.
What makes its product different from others currently available, is the freedom to access the tools from any location and from any internetenabled device without installing software.
It has been awarded an £100,000 investment by venture capital firm Northstar from the £15m North-East Proof of Concept fund, which supports innovative technology projects.
Dr Stephen Price, of Northstar Ventures, said: “This is a very innovative product which is truly a game changer and which could make a significant difference to millions of people worldwide.”
Ross Linnett, founder and director of Recite Me, said: “Northstar’s investment is a very important step for us and signifies a vote of confidence in the potential of creating a universal solution for people who struggle to read websites.”
