AN award-winning brick company has supplied 100,000 bricks to restore an iconic Manchester mill.
The York Handmade Brick Company provided the bricks for Murray's Mill, based in Ancoats. The mill was built at the start of the Industrial Revolution and was illuminated by gas light.
Visitors from across Europe and America came to view the mill, which was manned by 1,300 workers.
The brick company, based in Easingwold, North Yorkshire, had to make bricks which perfectly matched existing ones.
This proved difficult as the original bricks were made from clay at the bottom of a canal next to the mill.
