CLOSED-CIRCUIT televion (CCTV) specialist 2020 Vision has completed one of its biggest contracts to date, with car manufacturer Nissan.

The North-East company installed a surveillance system to protect £22.5m worth of vehicle stock at Nissan's distribution site, in Washington, Tyne and Wear.

The six-figure contract was 2020's largest surveillance project for a manufacturing site, and will help towards plans to raise turnover to £10m in five years.

Managing director Peter Houlis said: "2020 has successfully installed advanced CCTV technology with enhanced definition to support such a large-scale site and vehicle stock of extremely high value."

2020 installed 16 digital pan, tilt and zoom cameras, which are capable of recognising people from more than 100 metres away, and switch from colour to black and white to optimise night vision.

Steve Dunn, distribution site engineer at Nissan, said: "We are thrilled with the new security which is now in operation across the Washington site.

"It will enhance the safety of Nissan's working environment, free from any on-site incidents and intruders."

2020 was established in 1992 and provides security systems in hospitals, universities, Government offices and organisations across the region.

The North Shields firm expects to see turnover grow from £3.5m to £4.7m in the next 12 months, and has a five-year plan in place to open a second office on the M62 corridor.
