AN event is being held in the region to help businesses achieve growth as the North-East continues to emerge from recession.

The Fighting Fit Conference is designed to help companies grow and thrive in the current climate, and will give people the chance to learn the secrets of growth from successful entrepreneurs, including Gu Chocolate Puds founder James Averdieck, who has built his business idea into a £35m enterprise.

The event, organised by Business Link and beng held at the Gateshead Sage, on September 22, will offer masterclasses, keynote sessions, networking and best practice case studies to help with business growth.

Alastair MacColl, chief executive of Business and Enterprise North- East (Bene), which delivers Business Link services in the region, will open the conference.

He said: “The event will provide businesses with a practical and honest account of what it takes to grow, helping them to build an action plan for their own organisation’s future.

“I would encourage any business owner to extend your competitive advantage and join us at the must attend business growth conference of the year.”
