MOTORCYCLISTS will be able to benefit from the same level of service given to professional race teams thanks to a new business venture.

Shaun Muir Racing (SMR), the driving force behind the successful Hydrex Honda and Swan Honda Superbike BSB racing teams, is launching a performance centre.

Based at the teams’ headquarters in Guisborough, east Cleveland, the centre will offer a range of performanceenhancing services to all motorcyclists – whether they are racers, track day enthusiasts or regular road riders.

It includes a range of engine, suspension and chassis tuning services, carried out in the same workshop as the BSB superbikes and worked on by the same team of specialist technicians which prepares the race machines ridden by stars Stuart Easton and James Ellison.

As an established race team the company is also able to source just about any performance part from exhausts and fuelling control units to ignition control units, quickshifters and traction control systems, and all suspension, brakes and chassis parts.

SMR owner Shaun Muir decided to set up the centre after being previously asked for help by amateur riders on an informal basis.

He believes the company could supply, fit and set up pretty much anything its customers want.

Mr Muir said: “Since moving to our new facilities we have been regularly asked by riders, both road and track, if we will help them set up or modify their machines.

“We have been doing this on an informal basis, but demand is now such that to open a Performance centre is an obvious move forward. We have superb facilities and a team of race-proven specialist technicians, meaning we can offer riders a service and experience that’s simply unobtainable from their regular dealer.”

Mick Shanley, BSB crew chief added: “All the resources, knowledge and experience of the Swan Honda Superbike Team are available to customers of the new SMR Performance Centre.

Whether you want your standard bike perfectly set up or whether it be major performance modifications, we can make your bike that extra bit special.”
