TONGUE-TIED entrepreneurs will be given tips on how best to present their businesses at an event about public speaking next month.

For many business owners, presenting in front of an audience can fill them with fear and may let them down on winning contracts.

But Durham Business Club aims to banish the nerves at its March meeting when a team of accomplished speakers will help turn people into confident orators.

Christine Yule, development director at Durham Business Club, said: “Standing up and speaking in front of a group of people, whether it’s four or 400, will either terrify or excite you.

“Whatever emotions it raises, this event is all about gaining a few tips, building your confidence and having a lot of fun.”

Durham Business Club is hosting the event for members and their guests at the Calman Learning Centre, in Durham University, on Tuesday, March 9.

The club has invited A1 Speakers – the only chartered North-East group within Toastmasters International – to help guests overcome their public speaking nerves.
