A NORTH Yorkshire cheese has received a celebrity endorsement from BBC Radio Two breakfast presenter Chris Evans.
Evans’ love for Real Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese was broadcast to millions of listeners across the country.
His support was sparked by Wensleydale being an answer to a crossword puzzle.
The DJ told listeners: “I went to The Wensleydale factory once and it was great.
“It was a great day out.”
He commended the visitor centre, saying: “You should see the shop at The Wensleydale Creamery. Who wouldn’t want to spend a day just in there?”
He also extolled the cheesebased dishes served at The Creamery’s restaurant as “just the best ever”.
David Hartley, The Wensleydale Creamery’s managing director, said: “Our phones were absolutely red hot with farmers and friends calling us about Real Yorkshire Wensleydale being mentioned by Chris Evans.
“Our staff at Hawes and Kirby Malzeard were thrilled to hear such a ringing endorsement of Real Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese, our cheese-making tour, visitor centre, and cheese and souvenir shop on national radio by a leading celebrity.”
