TECHNOLOGY company Sits Group has achieved its first-year sales targets in only five months, prompting the company to look at further growth.

The North-East’s only dedicated visualisation specialist has doubled its sales forecast for the year and appointed several staff, a move that has seen it expand into larger premises at Newcastle’s Quorum Business Park.

It is also looking at expanding in other areas of the country during the coming year, a feat it is looking to achieve ahead of original targets.

Sits Group specialises in helping businesses rationalise and reduce the size of its server estates, making its IT infrastructure more efficient by implementing virtualisation technology.

Virtualisation works by housing several virtual servers within one machine, and the technique globally is predicted to grow by 300 per cent during the coming year.

Phil Cambers, Sits Group commercial director, said the company has excelled, despite the tough trading conditions.

“We could not be more pleased with the rate at which the company has developed over our first year, especially considering the tough financial conditions,” he said.

“We had set ourselves some realistic targets for the first 12 months, so to achieve those targets in the first half of the year and then go on to double our forecasted sales reinforced our view that there was a gap in the market for a true virtualisation specialist in the North-East.

“As we go into our second year we have ambitious plans to achieve even better results.

“We already have plans in place to roll out our business model into the North- West and Yorkshire, where the market is ripe for embracing the many benefits of virtualisation.”

Mr Cambers said that its services are becoming increasingly popular as businesses look to improve their services to stay ahead of the competition.

“A growing number of organisations are realising the benefits of consolidating their server estates,” he said.

“It makes much better use of IT resources, reduces the burden of cost and admin involved in managing a large number of computers – many of which are under-utilised – eliminates many of the potential points of failure and reduces the amount of energy required to power the IT infrastructure.

“Virtualisation is an emerging but proven technology that is set to become the de facto standard for computing.”
