THE suppliers of Britain’s oldest spa water have secured a contract with two major golf tournaments.
Harrogate Spa Water has signed a deal to become the official water supplier to the Ricoh Women’s British Open and the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
The two-year deal will see the company’s water, which dates back to the 1500s, advertised on boards around the courses and branded chiller bins full of the product, at all the tees. The events will have a combined global TV reach of about 800 million viewers.
The Alfred Dunhill is a pro-am tournament that sees amateur celebrity golfers partner some of the best European professionals. Famous names appearing last year included Padraig Harrington, Colin Montgomerie and Ernie Els, alongside Hollywood actors Hugh Grant and Samuel L Jackson.
It takes place at three Scottish courses – St Andrew’s, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns – between October 1 and 4.
