A FORMER publican has swapped pulling pints for printing services after launching an online business venture across the UK.

Steven Wright, who used to be landlord of The McOrville Inn, in Elwick, near Hartlepool, has turned his attentions to Anonprinting.

Already, after only a few months in business, he counts Npower and Sedgefield Racecourse among his clients, and has received orders from across the UK.

Mr Wright came up with the idea for his own printing business while running the pub, and realised there was an opportunity for him.

“It all started while I was running The McOrville. I noticed that many local businesses were looking for a good-quality printing service that was also able to provide competitive prices,” he said.

“I’ve built up a strong network of suppliers across the UK, so I’m able to offer my customers a service at wholesale prices. I’ve tried to make marketing an affordable option in a time most people would consider it a luxury, and those people who are proactive in marketing themselves can profit from that.

“Developing the business as an online print portal was the best choice, as it means it can further service the ever-increasing client base.”

Mr Wright, who has recently moved his business into The Old Brewery Business Centre, at Castle Eden, County Durham, has received help in setting up Anon printing.com from Be Enterprising’s Emerge programme, which supports start-up companies which focus on harnessing new technologies.

“Be Enterprising was able to help me with that by providing me with some of the funding I needed to find a talented web designer,” he said. “Their assistance has been invaluable throughout the process of setting up my business.”

Joanne Urquhart-Arnold, project manager for Emerge, said she has every confidence in Mr Wright’s success.

“Anonprinting.com represents exactly the kind of entrepreneurship we want to encourage. Steven is proactive and committed to growing his business. I have no doubt he will do very well in the future, despite the current economic climate,” she said.
