A RECRUITMENT company is doubling the size of its North Yorkshire premises after doubling its workforce in the past four months.

Giraffe Recruitment, based in Stokesley, North Yorkshire, said demand for its services has increased dramatically recently, particularly for recruitment in the offshore industry, and that the global downturn was proving no barrier to its growth.

It has increased its recruitment team from four to eight recently, with additional staff also working in IT and admin support.

The company, which was set up in 2006, will become the third business to move from Hambleton District Council’s Springboard business start-up centre at Stokesley Business Park into the nearby Momentum office complex, where it will take on a unit double its previous size.

Manager Rowena Simpson said further growth could be on the way.

She said: “Start-up companies get three years at the Springboard centre, but we have chosen to leave six months early because we already need more space and our plans are for further growth.

“The effects of the economic downturn are being felt everywhere, but while many companies are throttling back, we have total confidence in our product and the way we deliver our services, and are determined to continue the growth of the Giraffe brand.”

Springboard centre manager Sharon Lomas said: “By establishing the Momentum business centre, where the offices are self-contained and therefore give businesses greater freedom to develop and express their identity, we are enabling companies to grow and develop without leaving the Hambleton area.”
