FAST-GROWING North-East technology provider Onyx Group has continued its progress by making its third acquisition this year.

Onyx, which has offices in Middlesbrough and Newcastle, has acquired specialist IT firm Dundas, which has a client base of more than 100 companies in Edinburgh.

The deal is Onyx’s third acquisition this year, following takeovers of Newcastle Computer Services and Campbell Lee, in Scotland.

Onyx now has two North- East offices, three Scottish bases, and another site in Slough.

The company also manages data centres in Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Glasgow, with workplace recovery facilities in Newcastle and Glasgow and an international base in Dubai.

Neil Stephenson, chief executive of the Onyx Group, said: “This is a very significant move for Onyx, as it will enable us to grow our business base both in terms of resource, capability and geography.

“The acquisition allows us to strategically align our existing virtualisation and hosting services with Dundas’ skilled expertise, enabling us to further develop this offering for all of our customers.”

Catherine O’Day, managing director of Dundas IT, which will take the Onyx Group name, said: “This is very exciting for Dundas IT and our staff.

“We are a growing company and the deal will enable us to build on our managed IT services and give us access to the data centre infrastructure and networks the Onyx Group has to offer.”
