WORK is under way on the final phase of a North-East business park which has the potential to create about 3,500 jobs.

The multi-million pound development, part of Spectrum Business Park on the site of the former Dawdon Colliery, in Seaham, County Durham, will provide office and industrial accommodation, and has already attracted a range of high-profile tenants.

The final phase, Admiral Point, is being created by Stockton-based Jomast Developments.

It is hoped other companies will follow the lead of Kidde Products, Orbis plc, Transmark Fcx, Access Rentals and Business and Enterprise North-East in taking space at the development.

Ground work is due to be finished by the end of this month with the scheme due for completion in 2010.

Mark Hill, Jomast commercial property manager, said: “Admiral Point is the final phase of construction at Dawdon and will provide highquality work space for businesses across a number of sectors.

“The first development has proved to be a major success with companies and we’re hoping this second phase will be just as popular.

“The town has seen massive regeneration and inward investment over recent years and our developments will further boost economic growth and encourage commercial opportunities locally.”

Spectrum Business Park is one of a number of regeneration projects completed or under way in Seaham.
