A NATIONAL bookmaker has selected a regional coach firm to transport major names in the horse-racing industry.

Betting firm William Hill awarded Delta Coaches with a national transport contract to ferry ‘VIPs’ to horse-racing venues across the country.

Delta Coaches, which is based on Portrack Lane in Stockton, was founded on Teesside in the 1980’s.

The firm, which mainly specialises in fleet hire, operates a fleet of minibuses, medium to large coaches and football-style executive coaches. It also operates school-runs, contract hire, and holiday trips to European countries.

Gary Walton managing director of Delta Coaches said: “This is a particularly exciting time for us with the business going from strength to strength.”

Mr Walton who has headed Delta Coaches for about 33-years, said the firm had achieved significant milestones over the past two-years.

He added: “The support we’ve had from our partners at Anderson Barrowcliff and Punch Robson Solicitors has helped us to realise our business dreams and take them beyond what we could hope to achieve.”

Delta Coaches said its annual turnover had doubled since 2017, and said its latest contract win with William Hill would keep the firm on track with plans to expand 33 percent by the end of 2019.

In March 2017, the firm acquired Middlesbrough-based GL Coaches, in its efforts to expand.

Elaine McLaine-Wood managing partner at Punch Robson Solicitors said: “We have watched the growth of Delta Coaches for a number of years and are proud to have worked with the team to facilitate their recent expansion including the acquisition of GL Lever, and larger premises in Stockton.”

Mr Walton said the use of two Teesside-based chartered accountants had contributed to Delta Coaches’ continued success.

James Dale of Anderson Barrowcliff said: “Having worked with Delta for almost three years, I have seen the effort the directors have put into the business and the sacrifices they have made to make it a success.”

“These contract wins are great news for a truly Teesside business and as a company we strongly believe these local organisations should be championed.

“Delta Coaches is continually growing and will soon be one of the North East’s market leaders in its industry.”

The firm has since set aside two dedicated executive coaches which have received William Hill branding to its exterior.

The blue coaches are expected to transport around 500 people per day, during busy periods of horse-racing.
