AN award-winning law firm is celebrating five years of success and expansion.

EMG Solicitors, based in Durham, was founded by Emma Gaudern and Jemma Morland in 2014, employing just a handful of staff covering a select number of areas.

Now marking its fifth anniversary, the firm has gone from strength to strength, moving into an impressive two-story building to house its ever-expanding team, who work across a range of legal services.

In just the last year, the firm – which has been featured in the Legal 500 list for the last four years – has appointed a number of new directors, with Gwen Jones, Samantha Edward and Richard Swinbank all recently promoted.

Managing director Emma Gaudern recently completed the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses UK initiative, where she created the EMG Growth Plan, which includes opening a second office and growing the company’s commercial law services. And in September the firm welcomed two new appointments to its Court of Protection team, making it the largest independent department of its kind in the North East, along with being awarded mental health and community care contracts from the Legal Aid Agency.

“It’s been a fantastic five years for all of us here at EMG,” said Emma.

“To go from the small office we started with to the incredible team we have built today is a wonderful achievement and I’m delighted that we are able to assist our clients in a growing number of areas.”

Emma believes that the success in attracting staff from across the region has also helped EMG’s continued growth. “Our reputation and expertise coupled with our innovative approach to people development and employee engagement has seen the firm continue to attract high calibre lawyers and clients alike in the last 12 months,” she said.

“We have lots of plans going forward as we continue to look to what we can achieve in the future, so it will be an exciting time to see what the next five years will bring.”
