THE Raby Hunt is the only restaurant in the North-East to make it on to this year’s Good Food Guide Top 50 list.

The list unveiled today sees the two Michelin star restaurant on the coveted list for the fourth year in a row, with eateries from the rest of the region and the whole of Yorkshire not featuring at all.

Restaurant Nathan Outlaw in Cornwall retains the top position, with the majority of the remaining 50 restaurants based in the south, with a handful in the North West and Scotland.

The Guide entries, which is produced by Waitrose, are decided on by reviews submitted by the public and anonymous expert inspections.

“We’re delighted to have appeared in the Top 50 yet again,” said James Close, chef and owner of the restaurant at Summerhouse, near Darlington. “Competition get stronger every year so it’s great news to see that we’ve continued to maintain our presence as one of the leading restaurants in the country.”

The venue has held two Michelin stars since 2017 and self-taught chef James is widely recognised as one of the UK’s leading talents.
