A CAR parts maker has made two senior appointments – just days after revealing plans to extend its workforce.

ElringKlinger (GB) says Paul Alexander has taken the role of financial controller, with Glen Pearson its new head of logistics.

The moves follow a Northern Echo report that confirmed the Redcarbased firm aims to take on a further 30 staff after work with Ford and Jaguar Land Rover helped propel product sales to £21m.

They also add further ballast to boss Ian Malcolm’s five-year plan that aims to double the size of the company, which is known for making gaskets and heatshields.

Mr Alexander’s appointment comes after he originally joined as a cost accountant.

The 30-year-old, from Darlington, was previously at a PVC manufacturer and is a business and IT graduate having studied at Northumbria University.

He is now responsible for managing all financial aspects of Klinger, including cash flow management, forecasting and budgeting.

He said: “The business is going from strength-tostrength and it’s a fantastic time for everyone involved.”

Mr Pearson, from Washington, Wearside, will lead a team of 18 across Klinger’s supply chain, overseeing warehousing, purchasing, production planning and shipping.

The 50-year-old has joined from a Gateshead-based oil and gas firm, where he led the project and production planning teams for major onshore and offshore drilling projects.

He said: “Having worked in the automotive industry for a number of years, I know the great reputation that ElringKlinger has and I’m delighted to have joined the team.”

Mr Malcolm, managing director, added: “We have plans for further expansion of the workforce and Paul and Glen will play an integral role.”
