HAIR and beauty company Reds is to invest £500,000 in a second site in Sunderland, leading to the creation of 25 jobs.
Reds has acquired the site of Sunderland's historic book shop Hills, which closed in February last year, and plans to transform it into a salon and training academy.
The company will increase its 37-strong workforce by two-thirds with 25 jobs being created and the promise of more to come.
Susan Hall, director of Reds, which has its base in East Herrington, on the outskirts of Sunderland, said: "We have progressed steadily year-on-year and have expanded as much as we can at our current premises.
"When the Hills site became available, we realised it was perfectly positioned for a second salon that could incorporate our desire to offer a training academy."
Work has started on creating the salon and it is due to open in August.
