OLYMPIC rower James Cracknell OBE was in the region yesterday to inspire business leaders.
More than 300 delegates attended the Going for Gold event, where the Olympic gold medalist highlighted the comparisons between sport and business.
"Teamwork, motivation, training and sacrifice have all played an important role in my achievements as an athlete, and businesses looking to realise their full potential at Going for Gold also need to take these into account," he said. Malcolm Taylor, chief executive of Business Link said Going for Gold was designed to help businesses look at their operations and examine how they can do things better.
"The mental strength required by athletes like James mirrors what is needed by businesses who aspire to achieve and are determined to do what is necessary to be the best," he said.
The event, organised by Business Link Tees Valley and held at Wynyard Park, included free interactive workshops and seminars as well as a wide range of exhibitors.
