UP to 21,000 prominent business figures from across the world will hear about the benefits and achievements of the North-East at an international property conference later this month.

A delegation from both the public and private sector the region, led by regional development agency One NorthEast, will attend the Mipim conference in Cannes, France, from March 13 to 16.

The conference is the premier event for the property industry, attracting more than 2,000 exhibitors from 74 countries.

For the first time at the event, the major regeneration schemes in the North-East will be promoted to potential investors.

Delegates from the region will include King Sturge, Sunderland arc, Tees Valley Regeneration and Watson Burton.

John Holmes, director of regeneration and tourism at One NorthEast, said: "By bringing public and private sector partners together to promote the North-East, we are able to punch above our weight as a region while at the same time reducing the costs to all partners."
