TEXTILE artist Katie Sue Slater has set up her own business based on traditional techniques.

The 21-year-old, who works from her studio in Sedgefield, County Durham, has launched her website - www.bykatiesue.com - where products can be viewed and bought.

She recently graduated from Cleveland College of Art and Design's Hartlepool campus, with a first class degree in textiles and surface design.

Using traditional stitches and techniques, she has already completed commissions for Coats Craft UK and an interior design company.

"I often use recycled knits, crocheted dollies and fabrics that I source from charity shops or flea markets," she said.

"The main element of all my designs is that they are all hand-made using traditional stitches and techniques."
