THE North-East automotive industry's need to capitalise on supply chain links has been highlighted in a roadshow.
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) held an event at car parts maker Nifco, in Eaglescliffe, near Stockton, aimed at inspiring future growth among small and medium-sized businesses.
The briefing was supported by local enterprise partnership, Tees Valley Unlimited (TVU), who said funding and support was available for businesses.
The event, at Nifco, which makes small plastic parts for Ford and Honda, came just days after Nissan launched the world's first mass market electric car at its Sunderland plant.
Mike Baunton, SMMT interim chief executive, said: “It’s essential that we do all we can to maintain the positive momentum that is currently driving the UK automotive industry and a strong, thriving supply chain is vital to the future success of the sector.
“These roadshows aim to help automotive companies make the most of new business opportunities, providing a unique chance to network with colleagues and find out more about the support available.”
