Mr. Biggs, as I knew him, was my form teacher for 3 years from September 1965. Such a gentle man, remembered with fondness.

John taught me RE at Spennymoor. He was new and enthusiastic,an enthusiasm he transmitted to myself and I read Divinity as my subsidiary subject for my first degree.I can imagine the shocked expression on his face at that news!He was one of the few teachers who actually taught his classes-as against the majority who simply read from decaying piles of dusty notes. He did the most important thing a teacher can do-he inspired(me) and I followed him into a career in education and for that I thank him for a job well done.
