HETHERINGTON March 10, 2019, (peacefully) aged 79 years, Alan. A life well lived. Beloved husband of Brenda, a dearly loved dad of Carolyne and Andrew, a dear father-in-law to Peter and Lisa and a very special grandad to Tom, Angus, Josie, Lucy, Catherine and James. Family and friends please meet for service at Durham Crematorium on Tuesday, March 19, at 3:00pm. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu if desired to RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution).

Very sorry to hear of Alan's passing. Will always remember him single-hand idly, running Houghall and the farm and turning the whole thing around. Although he was a fairly determined sort of character he gave a lot of his younger staff real opportunities to grow, so a lot of us are very thankful to him for that. We also remember the "Alan Hetherington fashion tips", which usually caused a laugh. It really was a life well lived and he touched many peoples lives and was a very positive influence for many. Our thoughts are with Brenda and the family. Ian and Angela Yule, New Zealand.
