DARLINGTON Mowden Park Sharks centre Megan Ellery has been named in the England Womens sevens squad for the World Sevens tournament in Guangzhou, China, this weekend.
Ellery, who also plays for Durham University, has been promoted to coach Simon Middletons squad after recently recovering from injury.
The 21-year-old played in the opening leg of the World Sevens series in Dubai in the winter, when England finished fifth.
Middleton said: "Megan was unlucky to get injured in Dubai and miss out on the last two legs. She is a quality player with a lot of potential."
England will take on Australia, Ireland and Fiji in the pool stages in Guangzhou, and will be hoping to improve on their best finish of the season so far, which saw them lose out to Canada in the third-placed play-off in Brazil.
