COLIN TURKINGTON followed up his impressive qualifying by leading from start to finish to the win the Dunlop British Touring Car Championship opener at Croft Circuit.

Turkington, who started in pole position after shining on Saturday, claimed his 11th victory on the North Yorkshire circuit by helping Silverline Subaru BMR RAcing to a first ever one-two finish.

The double BTCC champion finished ahead of teammate Jason Plato, who claimed his fourth consecutive podium spot, in the Levorg GT. MG Racing RCIB Insurance’s Ash Sutton claimed his first podium too just behind them.

But this was Turkington’s race, having successfully stayed ahead of the pack despite making contact with Eurotech’s Dan Lloyd at the first turn; where BTCC standings leader Sam Tordoff also found the gravel to drop down to tenth.

Tordoff eventually dropped out of contention because of the oil leak picked up during that first lap incident, while Turkington never had any problems in keeping Plato and Co at bay.
