ON 5 November club runner Mark Wade participated in Hellvellyn 10k trail race, which is part of the Lakeland Trail series. The conditions on the day were cold but sunny; ideal running weather. Mark completed the race in an impressive time of 37:39 and placed 2nd overall.

Four members of the club turned out for Tees Trail Winter 5k at Billingham Beck Sunday 6 November. It was cold and wet when they arrived and the course was quite muddy, but the runners still enjoyed it once they got going. Graham Atkins was 1st home for the club, placing 22nd in the excellent time of 20:37; followed by John Burnside, 38th in 21:45 and 1st in his category of male over 60. Alan Wilks was next to cross the line, and 58th in 23:04; followed by Kelly Smith, 118th in 28:02.

Club runners turned out for the Tees Trail Winter 5k race at Cowpen Bewley on 20 November. This was also the Gavin Duffy memorial race so attracted a big turnout. Conditions were very muddy. John Surtees was first home for the club and 3rd overall in the time of 18:34; followed by Mark Wade, 9th overall in 19:32; John Burnside, 59th in 23:46 and 1st in his category of male over 60; Michelle Zamir, 59th in 23:52; Tracy Surtees, 79th in 25:20; Cyd Upton, 88th in 25:48, and Dave Blewitt, 90th in 25:53.

Also on 20 November club runner Graham Atkins participated in Wooler trail half marathon. The day was great running weather with blue sky, sunshine and a cold zero degrees. The race incorporated 590 meters of climbing and was hard going. He completed the race in 2:13:11 placing 14th overall and placing 2nd in his age group of 50 – 60.
